Swiss in Australia are invited to participate in a survey that examines how Swiss emigrants in Australia preserve their cultural roots and what perceptions they have of Switzerland. I focus on two main aspects:
Cultural roots:
The thesis explores how Swiss traditions and values are maintained within families, for example through customs, national languages or emotional connections to the homeland.
Stereotypes and perceptions:
I analyse which positive and negative stereotypes about Switzerland are widespread, whether these correspond to reality and how they are shaped by distance and Australian influences.
I also analyse how emigrants develop a dual identity between Swiss and Australian culture, what cultural conflicts or synergies arise and how their perception of Switzerland has changed over time.
Aim of the work:
The aim is to understand how Swiss emigrants shape their cultural identity and how their view of Switzerland is shaped by geographical distance and cultural influence.
The survey is accessible with this link
