Council of the Swiss Abroad elections - Australia is leading the way

How can the 800,000 Swiss abroad be best represented in Switzerland today? Historically, Swiss Clubs were the only way for Swiss expatriates to connect with each other, which is why delegates of the Council of the Swiss Abroad were elected by these clubs.

Modern technology has changed the way people communicate and interact. Recognising this, Australia moved to direct elections for council delegates in 2017. Our delegate, Carmen Trochsler, together with American Delegate David Moerker, and political Scientist Sean Muller from University of Lausanne, has been interviewed by Swissinfo on this topic.
