Update Study in Switzerland

The admission requirements for studying in Switzerland are continuously evaluated by the universities and published each year for the following academic year on the swissuniversities website.

Unfortunately, the admission requirements for upper secondary school-leaving certificates (high school diploma) from Australia for the academic year 2023/24 have changed fundamentally.

For example, the ECUS supplementary examination is no longer possible, but instead a recognized two-year university degree plus proof of enrolment in the desired field of study at a recognized university in Australia is required in order to be admitted to a Bachelor's program at a Swiss university. Different admission requirements apply for ETH Zurich and EPF Lausanne.

The current admission requirements can be found here:

Example: University of Zurich

  • Until last year: Upper secondary school-leaving certificate + certificate of university admission in the desired academic subject provided by a recognized Australian university or Complementary Examination ECUS

  • For 2023/24: Upper secondary school-leaving certificate (with the right choice of subjects) + 2 years of university-level studies recognised by the respective university + certificate of university admission in the desired academic subject provided by a recognised Australian university

The admission requirements for an IB diploma have not changed for the academic year 2023/24, more here:
